SENE Asked to Guide a Second Kilimanjaro Climate Research Expedition, September 2008
Beginning September 17, SENE guides will be supporting the team of Dr. Douglas Hardy of the University of Massachusetts (U.S.A.) and his NASA/JPL colleagues in their research on Kilimanjaro. Dr. Hardy's study is measuring climactic conditions on glaciers in high altitude tropical environments, with a particular interest in explaining the current environmental changes on Kilimanjaro. Please see Dr. Hardy's website, Kilimanjaro Climate & Glaciers.
This expedition follows SENE's Kilimanjaro logistical support for the University of Portsmouth (U.K.) research team in July. For more, please see our News page.

SENE will again be guiding the "Climb for a Cause" charity climb up Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania to raise money for development projects in Kibwezi, Kenya run by Nomad Charities, a Bend, Oregon based non-profit organization.
The climb is scheduled for September 20 - 29, 2008. We welcome you to join us on the climb to support this worthy cause.

My name is Simon P. Mtuy, and I am the founder of Summit Expeditions and Nomadic Experience (SENE). I would like to invite you to join us for an adventure in Africa.
SENE offers a variety of packages in Tanzania, ranging from extreme adventures to sensitive cultural immersion, from wildlife safaris through the Serengeti to lounging on the tropical beaches of Zanzibar.
Our specialty is leading expeditions up Kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain on the continent. Our trekking expeditions are custom designed to meet the clients’ skill and interest levels. We can take photographers to dramatic landscapes. We can take our time exploring the natural history of each eco-zone as we move through them. My guides and I use less traveled routes to the summit, which add to our visitors’ enjoyment of the climb. No one knows the mountain better than we do.
Each trip we lead, either a Kilimanjaro trek or a safari, begins and ends in the village where I was born, Marangu Mbahe, at the base of the mountain, where the local people, the Chagga, welcome visitors. I know our clients come from far away to visit Tanzania, and I am dedicated to giving them an experience that will be fondly remembered long after they return home.
My hope is that I attract people who want to experience the rare beauty of my extraordinary country, and who are also open to the magic of the place, to the land and the animals. My treks and safaris are not simply for tourists. They are odysseys of the spirit, mind and body.
My name is Simon P. Mtuy. I am a Chagga tribesman. I was born at the base of Kilimanjaro. Let me show you my Tanzania.
