As a villager of Marangu Mbahe, leading expeditions to the summit of Kilimanjaro comes easily and naturally, and my deep connection with the mountain makes this a rewarding way to make a living. It also puts me in close contact with people from other countries, giving me the opportunity to learn about other cultures. While I could have continued to support my family working for other tour companies, I felt strongly that the local people of Tanzania should develop profitable, sustainable, locally owned and operated businesses that promote this beautiful country while contributing to her well being. Therefore I founded Summit Expeditions and Nomadic Experience.

I am now proud to be the only Chagga tribesman and mountain guide to own his own expedition business.

I am proud to employ local villagers, which in turn strengthens their relationship to the mountain and surrounding land.

Economic opportunity locally in businesses that rely on the beauty and biodiversity of the land is the best way to protect the land for future generations.

That is our mission: To take care of Tanzania while showing her to people who care enough to come meet her.
